Bb. Pilipinas 2013 (21st Update): Building Homes & Bringing Hope

I am no beauty queen but let me share with you what is a beauty pageant. It is glamorous… It is colorful… It is beautiful… It is sexy… It appreciates perfect catwalk… It adores correct projection… It is glitzy… It is confident… It is graceful.. It is pleasing to the eyes… I am no beauty queen but let me share what is a beauty pageant. It is not just about world peace! It is not just about the swimsuits and heels! It is not just about the poise! It is not just about the crown! It is not all about the title!

A beauty pageant is a platform for a woman to make a difference in the society! Getting the crown and winning the title is just the start of a journey towards a position where you touches lives and help the people change for the better. Even before winning a title, the ladies of Bb. Pilipinas 2013 were already exposed to a true life of a beauty queen. BPCI partnered with Gawad Kalinga in building houses for typhoon victims. The candidates were asked to carry hollow blocks, shovel sand and paint. They also interacted with the kids in the community where they built their houses.

I am not sure if all the girls participated in the activity but I would like to thank those who joined. The activity was not just building houses for those who were displaced by the typhoon. It was an activity where the girls brought hope to the candidates. Other than the houses, these people need to know that they are not forgotten and that other Filipinos care for them. Just by showing up, these girls brought smile to the faces of the residents. And that what matters most! I really hope that BPCI and other pageant organizations will schedule more activities like this for the ladies.

Here are some of the pictures from BPCI:
