The Search is ON for Miss Cebu 2014!

Miss Cebu is celebrating its 30th year in 2014! I am expecting that Miss Cebu 2014 will probably the grandest edition of the pageant ever… This will be the perfect opportunity for me to cover the pageant again.

Apparently, this post is a bit late because the deadline for submission of application was set last September 27. I am now hoping that the organizers will be able to create a presentable roster of candidates for their 30th show!

For those who are are not familiar, Miss Cebu is the oldest running beauty pageant in Cebu. Notable Filipina beauty queens like Karla Bautista and Karla Henry are products of the said pageant. One of my favorite Cebuana beauty queens – Kris Tiffany Janson – won the crown in 2009. I heard that Kris is preparing for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, though I so want her for Miss World Philippines!

I consider Miss Cebu as the most prestigious beauty pageant in Central Visayas! The pageant made a strong brand out of its name. Miss Cebu now proudly represents the wit, grace and sophistication of all Cebuanas.  For pageant fans, it is known for two things: (1) It doesn’t have a swimsuit competition – which I totally respect and (2) the pageant prefers smart, sophisticated and beautiful woman as its queen – and yes, in that order I believe! However, despite the “conservative” approach to beauty pageants, it still thrives today because it is already an institution – an institution that produced the very movers and shakers of the island province and continues to breed the perfect Cebuana!

I will be covering the pageant here – crossing my fingers that the organizers will approve my request for media pass so that I will be invited to the pre-pageant activities and will be able to cover it for you! I am very excited 😀 Hope you are as well…
