Throwback Thursday (10.10.13): Janine Tugonon’s Homecoming

My Throwback Thursday post today remembers the grand homecoming of Janine Tugonon after her first runner-up finish in Miss Universe 2012. Despite missing the crown, she was welcomed by every Filipino with so much pride and enthusiasm. Mdm Stella Araneta organized a grand homecoming for Janine which included the following activities: A grand parade that started in Quezon City, a warm reception at her University of Santo Tomas where Janine finished her college degree with honors, a wreath laying activity in Rizal Park, a courtesy in Manila Hotel and Sofitel Manila, a hero’s welcome in Makati City and by the end of the day, a small celebration in Gateway Mall. It was a day of jubilation not just for Metro Manila but for the whole country.

Today, the whole country anticipates the return of Megan Young fresh from the successful Miss World 2013. With her historic win of the blue crown, Ms. Cory Quirino promised the grandest and biggest homecoming for Megan – something that fits the return of a conqueror, a heroine, a queen! To my Manila readers who will be in Makati tomorrow, I will be with you in spirit! Savor the moment – be merry, sing and shout for joy! And don’t forget to show Megan how happy and inspired we are with her! Mabuhay ka Megan!

You can check HERE for the details of Megan’s homecoming.
