Beauty Queens reached where they are now thanks partly to the people who helped her prepare for the rigors of beauty pageant training. They discover beautiful ladies and transform them into queens. We call them beauty queen makers! My favorite is Osmel Sousa of Venezuela for his vision. I also love Ines Ligron who helped Japan clinch their 2nd Miss Universe crown for her energy.
In the Philippines, we have three big beauty pageant camps that dominate the Philippine beauty pageant scene: Aces & Queens of Jonas Gaffud, House of JDV of John Dela Vega and Kagandahang Flores by Rodgil Flores. RL Lacanienta is also making waves with his RL Angels. 2014 was the year of Kagandahang Flores after it clinched most of the major national titles.
I must say that I have a soft spot for Sir Rodgil because (1) he is very approachable. Pageant fans hesitate to approach “bigwigs” like him because we are used to just seeing them on TV or print. Sir Rodgil is different. He will smile at you the moment you make an eye contact as if assuring you that you can approach him and talk to him. (2) He is the go-to manager of beauty queens from Cebu. Since I shamelessly consider myself as an adopted Cebuano, I am very humbled by the trust and confidence that Sir Rodgil has on Cebuana queens.
Today, as we wish Mary Jean Lastimosa the best of luck as she competes for the Miss Universe 2014 title, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sir Rodgil Flores and his team for a job well done. We all wish for MJ’s success but whatever the result will be, your team already deserves the biggest Thank You! I just can’t imagine the sacrifice, energy and time that you have given just to ensure that our queens are on their A-game as they step into the international stage.
THANK YOU TEAM KAGANDAHANG FLORES!!!
