Despite a 3-hour flight delay, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler and Miss Universe Organization Paula Shugart arrived in the Philippines to attend the crowning of Binibining Pilipinas 2014 yesterday. Shortly after arriving, Gabriela and Paula met with the members of the media for a Press Conference with Mdm Stella Araneta of BPCI.
Gabriela and Paula are here to help crown the 2014 Binibini queens. They are also scheduled to visit Tacloban – the city greatly hit by the super typhoon last year. With VIPs like Gabriela and Paula, this Sunday’s pageant is shaping up to be one of the most memorable Binibini coronation night ever🙂
Winning the title and the crown means a year-long reign filled with activities promoting the causes of the organization. For other queens, promoting these causes requires them to travel to other places. Think of it as perks of the job🙂 Our 2013 queens are enjoying their reigns and some of them were already asked to travel.
Megan Young – Miss World 2013
Probably the most travelled 2013 queen, Megan was able to visit GB, France, USA and a lot more. Just recently, she was in Russia to help crown Miss Russia 2014.
Gabriela Isler – Miss Universe 2013
Gabriela had her fair share of travels both international and local. She met Megan in Russia for the Miss Russia 2014. She was also in Indonesia for the national pageant and is scheduled to visit the Philippines this month. Locally, Gabriela enjoyed the New York Fashion Week and was recently in Miami, Florida for a Trump event.
Alyz Henrich – Miss Earth 2013
Alyz was just crowned last November but she is already starting her tour campaigning for Mother Earth. She is currently in Egypt attending a forum about the environment!
Mutya Datul – Miss Supranational 2013
Mutya is very active in the Philippines, attending charity and corporate events and representing both Miss Supranational organization and BPCI. Last year, Mutya was invited to Gabon to grace their national pageant.
Visiting these places is surely an enriching experience. It is not often that one is given a chance to travel and do it for free, probably even getting paid doing it. However, it requires so much effort from the queen as well. Of course they have to look good ALWAYS so the queen needs to plan out her outfit, hairstyle and make-up. They have to study the culture of the country that they are visiting to make-sure that they know how to respond. These sacrifices though are just part and parcel of their responsibility to be the best queen to represent the title and the crown!
Two of the most beautiful ladies in the world is in Russia right now and there is nothing but friendly competition. Tonight, the country will be crowning its queen and both Megan Young and Gabriela Isler are on location to help crown the lucky lady. Megan is of course a lovely Filipino who won the Miss World 2013 title and Gabriela is a Venezuelan amazona who captured the Miss Universe2013 crown.
Looking at this photo, I am sure that the world is too big to accommodate two stunning ladies🙂
This is such a big news for Binibining Pilipinas 2014 fans🙂 It was confirmed via an official post on the FB page of BPCI that Gabriela Isler – Miss Universe 2013 from Venezuela – will be in the Philippines to grace the coronation night on March 30 and help crown the country’s representative to Miss Universe 2014. She will be part of the panel of judges.
Gabriela will be accompanied by Paula Shugart – the President of the Miss Universe Organization. They have scheduled some activities to help rebuilding efforts in the areas badly hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda!
I am very pleased to know that Gabriela will be in the country and accommodated in her itinerary some efforts to help highlight the rebuilding efforts in areas affected by Yolanda. These rebuilding efforts badly need the “spotlight” that they can get with a visit from a reigning queen. However, I am much more thrilled to know that Paula will be with Gabriela. At the end of the day, it is Paula who has “bigger” influence if we are talking about Miss Universe affairs already. I am sure that you know what I mean🙂 If not, just remember that Hirofumi Hashimoto was one of the judges during Binibining Pilipinas 2013. Mr. Hashimoto is the chairman of Miss International. I am not saying that Bea Santiago won the Miss International 2013 crown just because Mr. Hashimoto was one of the national judges. However, the fact that he had a hand in picking the official representative and being familiar with Bea months before the competition started surely helped Bea “gain some attention.” Just imagine if Paula will help choose the winner of the Miss Universe Philippines 2014 title. Endless possibilities…

I am very pleased to share with you the winners of Kattera Awards 2014. I received positive feedback from my Kattera Awards 2013 choices and I though of creating a poll to determine your favorites for the different awards. I am very glad to announce that we have the same choices as winners for all categories proving that we are on the same page in terms of beauty queen preferences🙂 You guys are surely the best!
Here are the winners:
Non-Placer of the Year Paulina Krupinska of Poland
(Miss Universe 2013)
Paulina’s inclusion as semifinalist in Miss Universe 2013 could very well be considered as the biggest injustice last year! With her undeniable facial beauty and a muted but dead-on preliminary performance, I totally don’t see any reason behind the snub. She could have altered the total result if she was only given a chance to be on the Top 16.
Anatasia Sukh of Ukraine (Miss Earth 2013) Lucero Montemayor of Mexico (Miss International 2013) Denise Valerie Ayena of Cameroon (Miss World 2013)
Body of the Year Amy Willerton of Great Britain (Miss Universe 2013)
Amy’s body reminded me of those I have seen in “Baywatch”. We all see how fit and healthy her body is. She was clearly in tip-top shape during the competition. Amy won this award because her body looked feminine and sexy despite the muscles. She was able to tone down her body and making sure that at the end of the day, it’s her sex appeal that will be noticed. This was clearly the case when Amy burned the stage during the swimsuit round.
Priscilla Martins of Brazil (Miss Earth 2013)
Bea Santiago of Philippines (Miss International 2013)
Sancler Frantz Konzen of Brazil (Miss World 2013)
Face of the Year Andjelka Tomasevic of Serbia (Miss Earth 2013)
No one will surely dare forget the beautiful face of Andjelka! She will forever be the best poster girl to summarize the beauty that we encountered last year. Her eyes speaks and her face commands! What amazes me is the fact that she is much more beautiful in person🙂 Good thing that we will not be seeing the last of her as she is slated to represent Serbia in Miss Universe 2014. I am thrilled!
Eleonore Lilja of Sweden (Miss International 2013)
Paulina Krupinska of Poland (Miss Universe 2013)
Carranzar Naa Shooter of Ghana (Miss World 2013)
Grand Slam Queen of the Year Megan Young of Philippines (Miss World 2013)
Filipinos are known to be the best pageant fans in the world. We support our queens no matter what. Winning the most elusive title and crown for Philippines gives Megan an upper hand over the other nominees. However, it was her favorable win and her over-all finale performance that sealed the envelope! Megan is proving to be one of the best Miss World queen ever.
Alyz Henrich of Venezuela (Miss Earth 2013)
Bea Santiago (Miss International 2013)
Gabriela Isler (Miss Universe 2013)
Country of the Year Philippines
With 2 crowns (Bea Santiago & Megan Young) and 2 finalist (Ara Arida & Angelee delos Reyes) placements this year, no one can deny the fact that this Philippines is the Country of the Year! With Megan Young’s win of the Miss World title, it is now part of the elite group (3 countries ONLY) with all Grand Slam titles! Let me know if there are complaints. Hahahaha!
