Beauty Pageant Scorecard: Austria

Austria is a landlocked country of roughly 8.3 million people in Central Europe. The territory of Austria is influenced by a temperate and alpine climate. The majority of the population – about 90% – speaks German, which is also the country’s official language.

Australia is a parliamentary representative democracy, comprised of nine federal states. It is one of six European countries that have declared permanent neutrality, and one of the few countries that includes the concept of everlasting neutrality in its constitution. Austria is one of the richest countries in the world. Austria’s capital is Vienna. Other big cities are Graz, Linz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck.

Beauty Pageant Numbers:

Miss Universe

1 first runner-up, 1 second runner-up, and 5 semifinalists

Miss World

2 crowns, 1 second runner-up, 3 finalists, and 11 semifinalists

Miss International

3 second runner-up and 4 semifinalists

As what the numbers above are telling us, Austria is standing firm in almost all major battles of beauty. This country produces best blond bombshells and it is sad to note that they are semi-active nowadays. The last time that the country was represented in Miss International was 1994 and 2004 for Miss Universe. The country haven’t competed yet in Miss Earth. Good thing that after a 4-year absence, Austria is now back in Miss World and earned a semifinalist placement in MW 2007.

Two of my fave Austrian queens are Christine Reiler – semifinalist at Miss World 2007 – and Ulla Weigerstorfer – Miss World 1987. They are  just gorgeous specially with their blond locks…
